Posters for film and theatre, built like miniature films.

Poster design and collages are two of my greatest creative passions, deeply intertwined with my work as a filmmaker and my love for visual art.

Burnt Out — film poster designed by Pinar Karaaslan, layered figurative artwork for a 48 hour project, directed by Faten Bushehri.

How I approach a poster
Every poster starts with the script. Mood, genre, tonal register, the single image a viewer should still be carrying a week after they see it, those come first. Then comes the visual language: layered imagery, considered typography, textures that earn their weight. I'm drawn to artists like Schiele, Guayasamín and Giacometti, whose distorted forms question the multi-faceted reality of their times, that interest shows up in the work.

Why this work
Posters live or die on whether they say something true about the film in a single frame. Doing that consistently is partly craft and partly genuine interest in the story. I work most closely with directors and producers who want a poster that does narrative work, not just an arresting image, but one that tells a viewer what kind of film, performance or event they're about to see. That focus is the reason a small group of regular collaborators keep returning for each new project.
