In collaboration with Bumbuku Creatives

Bold Knots: a brand built around oversized stitches and women in transition.

A social-impact brand concept developed with Özge Tığlı of Bumbuku Creatives, designed to support female refugees through large-scale knitwear, made and sold to ease the asylum and camp-period transition.

The brief we set ourselves
Bold Knots was developed for a competitive open call. The challenge we wrote for ourselves was to build an identity that could hold two things at once, bold enough to claim a place on shelves and in conversation, nurturing enough to honour the women the work was for. The brand had to read as a business, not as an awareness campaign.

The system we designed
I designed the logo and brand identity around thick yarns and oversized stitches, visual shorthand for both the craft and the strength of the women involved. The name Bold Knots holds the same dual meaning:

literal craftsmanship, plus an emotional claim. We treated the project as if it were a fully operating business and built the brand to match, moodboard, identity system, packaging direction, the way it might appear on a tag or a website.

Where it landed
The concept received glowing feedback from the open-call panel for the originality of the thinking and the strength of the brand build. It remains in the portfolio as one of the projects I am proudest to have built — because it showed how brand work can carry social weight without losing its commercial discipline.

Bold Knots branding rolled out across moodboard and website concept — empowering refugee women through craft.
