Precision layout, brand-faithful typesetting and end-to-end print preparation for Superfoodies' GROENER and TOETJES cookbooks, produced in partnership with the design studio The Projects.

Desktop publishing layout work for Superfoodies recipe books — typography and grid in InDesign.

What DTP actually means
Desktop publishing is the engine room of editorial design, the discipline that turns approved design directions into pages that print without surprises. For Superfoodies' cookbooks GROENER and TOETJES, that meant building out the recipe pages across a brand-heavy InDesign system, balancing food photography with body copy and call-outs, holding every rule of the brand guide across hundreds of pages, and preparing files for press without errors.

Working with The Projects
I came on board as the DTP partner for The Projects, the studio leading the cookbook concept and art direction. My role was to take their design intent and execute it faithfully at scale, typography, spacing, image masks, character styles, the unglamorous infrastructure that makes a 200-page book feel coherent in the hand. The collaboration deepened over time: I became one of their go-to professionals for DTP, because deadlines were met, complex grids stayed stable, and small improvements to the design got flagged along the way instead of saved up for the printer.

Why this matters for you
If you're producing a book, a report or a multi-page publication, the riskiest moment isn't the design phase, it's the production phase, where a single broken character style can cascade into a reprint. Bringing in a dedicated DTP hand at that stage is the difference between a book that ships on time and one that doesn't.

“Pinar turns together bulky tomes with unprecedented precision and speed. Not only are you assured that complex designs and rigorous brand guides are executed to perfection, but with her keen eye for design, she always comes up with welcome areas for improvement.”
